The Leather Dress

Straight from the runways to the streets

Silk, floral and velvet romantic and sensual dresses will always be a great choice. But what should you wear when you mean business? Well, the autumn catwalks have spoken and leather dresses are the answer.

Leather was everywhere this season we say it in all its versions. But dresses were without a doubt the most seen version from functional and midi length dresses at Loewe, to short and edgy at Miu Miu or feminine and romantic at Tod’s. Long and shirt shaped at Victoria Beckham. So yes leather was everywhere in this A/W 2018 collections. So now it is time to take it into the streets. But, how can you wear a leather dress without looking like a motorbike rider or too sexy for work?

Actually, there is a thin line that if you cross it you might end up looking like you’re about to go partying. Keep in mind when buying a leather dress that they shouldn’t be super tight. The looser it is the better. Opt for shirt shaped dresses or midi dresses, as well as, wrap dresses. These shapes will give you the sophisticated yet elegant and feminine touch we are looking for.

Another thing to take into consideration is the way you accessorize your leather dress in order to really look like a businesswoman. I’m really into boots this season ankle and knee-high boots not so much over the knee boots. Have some fun and incorporate patterns like snake or cowboy boots.

Here are some ideas on how you can wear leather dresses to empower you and make you look like the real boss you are. From the classic black leather dress to white leather dresses or brown which it is actually the new black. A version for every kind of person.

The Brown Version

If you aren’t a fan of black leather then brown is going to be your best friend. Plus, it is so trendy this season which makes of this combo a win-win situation. Add a knit cardigan, a pair of gold earrings a small bag and of course a pair of white cowboy boots and you will get the perfect outfit for work or a Saturday morning. Your choice.

Mixing leather with knitted pieces adds a casual touch to the outfit making it appropriate for almost any situation.

The Lady “Boss” Version

What I love the most about autumn is that you can combine fall pieces with summer ones to create the perfect outfit. If you’re not feeling the boots yet and you’re trying really hard to not let go of the summer. A pair of mules is a great choice to go with your leather dress.

White leather dresses are a great alternative to the classic black leather dress. Combined with a checked print coat and with another big trend, the belt bag, and you will have a great business woman attired. Perfect for the office and a happy hour drinks with your co-workers.

The Classic Black Leather Dress

You can never go wrong with a little black dress. But what about the leather version? This shirt leather dress is a great option for a workday, evening event, night date or even a Sunday relaxed kind of day.

You can wear it with a jacket or add a romantic shirt to add some drama to your look. A pair of snake boots will add some fun to the look. Lastly, opt for a minimalistic looking bag since you already have a lot going on with the boots and the shirt.

The Romantic mini Black Leather Dress

To conclude with we have the romantic version of the leather dress. Depending on the accessories you choose you can go from a boss woman to a chic and ready to rock kind of girl.

For a day at work choose a soft and comfy sweater to wear underneath the dress. I like a  “see-through” sweater. Don’t worry its not like you’re going to be showing a lot just some arm skin. Add some color with a burgundy bag or a green bag and a scarf just to spice things up a little bit. Lastly, wear a pair of laced up feminine boots and a cool pair of sunglasses. And you will have the ultimate working outfit.
