Plaid Trend for the Autumn/Winter Season
The key trend to have under your radar
Plaid, check or Prince of Wales heritage. It doesn’t matter the name of this pattern because all versions are a key for the new season.
Clavin Klein inspired by the cabins plaid pattern, Erdem reinventing the classic Prince of Wales pattern or Versaces version of the checked pattern with a brighter touch are some of the designers that incorporated this trend into their A/W 18 runway.
Inspired by the 90s Tv shows this trend is bringing back all the “college” look like outfits but with a twist. Instead of the classic red and green plaid pattern, we are seeing more bright yellows and blues and on the other hand, we are also having a reinvention of the classic Prince of Wales pattern in light yellows, oranges, and even pinks. Which, I have to admit it is my favorite color palette.
The great thing about the plaid pattern is that it is super easy to combine. With stripes, with the same pattern but in different colors or sizes. The options are infinite, just play with it and create the perfect look for you.
I really like this pattern, especially during fall. It seems like it was made for this season. Now that the summer is over and Autumn is just around the corner. It is time to add the plaid trend to the wardrobe.
If you don’t know how to incorporate this trend into your closet here are 5 looks you can wear to the office, to a date, to an after-work party or any kind of event you can think of. Also, you can find here how a wear the plaid trend to transition from summer to fall. With a Prince of Wales light yellow pair of pants and another of my favorite colors of the season. The brown.
The Basic Plaid Blazer
The easiest way to incorporate this trend into your wardrobe is by adding a basic Plaid Blazer to it. It is the safest choice plus there are a million ways you can wear it.
A pair of straight cut jeans, the ultimate shoe trend, white cowboy boots, and a very feminine shirt and you’re ready for any possible scenario.
Reinvent the classics with a Plaid Romper
This romper is a reinvention of the classic schoolgirl plaid skirt. But instead of wearing it with ballerinas or mocassins. Try it out with knee-high boots and a cool pair of cat-eye sunglasses.
The always fashionable Plaid Suit
You can never go wrong with a plaid suit. It is the most classic yet elegant outfit for a day at the office. Add some color with a statement red bag, some earrings, and sock boots.
A Classic coat with a trendy pattern
Another way of incorporating the Plaid trend into your wardrobe without having to dress head to toes in it is by buying a statement piece, like this coat.
Keep it under the same color gamma. Maroons, beiges, browns and if you want to risk it a little bit more add a snake pattern shoes to achieve the perfect fall look.
The Boyish Plaid Version
Last but not least we have the boyish version. This skirt has a tomboy touch, it kind of resemblaces to the classic bermuda but with a feminine touch. Since the pattern is very dark and not so flashy you can add some extra patterns like a pair of snakeskin high boots. An oversized sweater, a pair of gold earrings and a little black clutch and you’re good to go.
